Merrimack Valley Assistance Program first began its operations in 1995, solely on a volunteer basis. During this time, volunteers worked under the name of Merrimack Valley AIDS Project. MVAP began applying for grants in hopes to secure funding for future operations. In 1998, MVAP secured it’s first Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) grant.
Without the help of volunteers, MVAP would not have been able to provide support to clients today. With that, MVAP understands how valuable volunteers are.
We are currently seeking volunteers who would like to learn the realm of nonprofit and public health work. Volunteers can work alongside MVAP staff at any of our three locations and attend community events. Responsibilities of volunteers could include organizing the offices or outreach. We are also open to hear how we can provide you with a volunteer experience that will meet requirements for school, internships, or individual fulfillment.
