NH CARE Program

Being a client with Merrimack Valley Assistance Program (MVAP) gives you support and assistance when you need it. Eligible clients may enroll in the NH CARE Program through MVAP. The NH CARE Program implements the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP), which was first enacted in 1990 as the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act. It aims to increase accessibility to health care and support services for persons living with the HIV/AIDS. In New Hampshire, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is a Ryan White Part B grant recipient and disperses funds to New Hampshire agencies to provide life-sustaining medications and to ensure quality clinical and case management services to New Hampshire residents who are living with HIV/AIDS and under 500% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Am I Eligible?

In order to be eligible for the NH CARE Program, you must meet these three requirements:

  • Be living with HIV/AIDS
  • Be a New Hampshire resident
  • Have an annual gross household income at or under 500% of the Federal Poverty Level:

  • Payments for Health Insurance Premiums
  • Medical Visit/Outpatient Co-pays
  • Payments for Lab/Diagnostic Testing
  • Purchase/Delivery of Durable Medical Equipment
  • Payments of Prescribed Medicines
  • Home Health Services
  • Mental Health Services
  • Primary/Specialty Care Services
